China has become the world‘s largest new car market, while domestic Hongli Zhihui, Ruifeng Optoelectronics, Guoxing Optoelectronics and Changzhou Xingyu Auto Lamp Co., Ltd. have all expanded their share in the domestic LED automotive lighting market.
Edison‘s Chinese subsidiary now supplies LED lighting modules for direction indicators, daytime running lights and taillights to US automakers and aftermarket suppliers. In the second quarter of 2018, Edison‘s LED automotive lighting revenue accounted for 24.3% of the company‘s comprehensive revenue, and the expected revenue ratio will gradually increase to 30%.
Lianjia Optoelectronics‘ 75% of its revenue comes from the North American market and currently accounts for nearly 10% of the North American LED automotive lighting module market. According to industry sources, the current US-based Flex-N-Gate, Germany-based Hella KGaA Hueck and Canada-based Magna International are the three major customers of Lianjia Optoelectronics. In order to increase the supply in the North American market, Lianjia Optoelectronics will combine its existing marketing base with the Michigan warehouse in the second half of 2018 to build a new factory. The plant will have an automated production line and a design center that will be operational by the end of 2019.
Everlight Electronics produces LED automotive lighting modules at its new plant in central Taiwan, which is available to US and European automakers. The revenue ratio is expected to rise from around 5% in 2017 to more than 10% in 2018. At present, Yiguang Electronics is also expanding the production capacity of LED automotive lighting modules, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018.
